Chinese Ambassador to Singapore Cao Zhongming Attends the 2nd Global Business Summit on Belt and Road Infrastructure Investment to Accelerate the SDGs

On 3 September 2026, Ambassador Cao Zhongming attended and delivered a keynote speech at the 2nd Global Business Summit on Belt and Road Infrastructure Investment to Accelerate the SDGs hosted by the UN Global Compact.

Ambassador Cao pointed out that the world is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century. The international community urgently needs to build consensus and pull together to tide over difficulties. Upholding the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, the Belt and Road Initiative advances connectivity, green development and practical cooperation. It has opened up new vistas for global common development and become an immensely popular international public good. Enterprises constitute an important actor in advancing sustainable development and improving global governance.  China stands ready to deepen practical cooperation with Singapore and the global business community on sustainable development, deliver tangible results under the Global Development Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, and work together to foster a more prosperous and promising future for all.

The summit was held under the theme “Connect for Better World”, and drew over 400 representatives from governments, international organizations and the business community.
