SINGAPORE, October 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Nobel Heroes & AI4SCI Summit Singapore 2026 brought five Nobel Laureates together with leaders from academia, technology, government and investment on 5–6 October to explore scientific discovery in the age of artificial intelligence.

The two-day Summit welcomed around 500 participants and featured seven Nobel Laureate roundtables and dialogues. Events took place at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore Management University (SMU), Conrad Singapore Orchard and Gardens by the Bay, connecting scientific discussion, long-term capital and public engagement.

The Summit was jointly organised by Laureates City Holdings Limited and Symbiosis Science, hosted by Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, and supported by Advaita Lab and HER SYMBIOSIS.

Five Nobel Laureates in Singapore

The participating Laureates were Omar M. Yaghi, awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry; Fred Ramsdell, awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine; Benjamin List, awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry; Sir Konstantin Novoselov, awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics; and Sir Christopher A. Pissarides, awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences.

Other participants included Heng Swee Keat, Chairman of Singapore's National Research Foundation; Nikolaus Turner, Executive Director of the Foundation Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings; H.E. Alex Tilman, Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Singapore; H.E. Tadeusz Chomicki, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Singapore; and Dr Choo Pei Ling, Member of Parliament of Singapore.

They were joined by Aurelia Frick, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Culture of Liechtenstein; photographer Peter Badge; Professor Christian Wolfrum, Provost of NTU; and Professor Alan Chan, Provost of SMU.

Connecting science and long-term support

The Gala Dinner at Conrad Singapore Orchard on 5 October brought together more than 150 guests from government, business and academia, including all five Nobel Laureates.

Participants included Professor Patrick Tan, Dean of Duke-NUS Medical School; Steven Hoi, Vice President of Alibaba Group; Professor Qiang Yang of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Arthur Hayes, Co-founder of BitMEX; Tan Yinglan, Founding Managing Partner of Insignia Ventures Partners; and Akasha Zhu, Co-founder of Advaita Lab and Paramita Capital. Representatives from CapitaLand, OUE, J.P. Morgan Private Bank and family offices also attended.

Michael Ong, Chairman of Laureates City Holdings Limited, and Kamala Zhu, Founder of Symbiosis Science, welcomed guests, followed by an opening address from Nikolaus Turner.

“Great science needs time, trust and early support. Many major discoveries begin with a question few people believe in,” said Kamala Zhu. She highlighted the importance of lasting connections between science, AI, industry and capital, with future conversations extending to Hong Kong, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and other centres of innovation.

Michael Ong emphasised international scientific exchange and cross-sector collaboration. During the dinner, Turner presented commemorative gifts to Kamala Zhu and Akasha Zhu, recognising their shared commitment to scientific exchange and collaboration.

AI, discovery and emerging talent

Across the NTU and SMU sessions, the Laureates discussed AI's implications for scientific discovery, health and longevity, sustainable cities and the future of work.

Yaghi described how AI is accelerating materials research. List and Novoselov emphasised human curiosity, original thinking and the ability to ask the right questions. Ramsdell urged care when approaching AI-generated information, while Pissarides examined AI's practical value and long-term effects on employment and the economy.

At the 5 October AI for Science forum, Kamala Zhu delivered opening remarks, Advaita Lab shared emerging AI research, and HER SYMBIOSIS convened a women's leadership roundtable. Three young researchers were recognised among the inaugural AI4SCI Rising Stars 100, marking the first cohort of the Rising Minds — AI4SCI Young Talent Program.

At SMU on 6 October, Professor Alan Chan and Nikolaus Turner delivered remarks, followed by a keynote from Dr Cheong Wei Yang, Vice Provost for Strategic Research Partnerships. Three Nobel Laureate dialogues connected scientific research with the long-term challenges of work, longevity and urban life.

Science in public life

The Nobel Laureates Portrait Exhibition Singapore 2026 opened at Gardens by the Bay on 6 October. Featuring Peter Badge's portraits of 35 Nobel Laureates, it combined outdoor displays and digital interactive experiences, remained open until 11 October and was free to visit.

Turner, Kamala Zhu, Dr Choo Pei Ling and Peter Badge delivered opening remarks. Nobel Laureates and other guests, including H.E. Alex Tilman, joined the ceremony.

The exhibition brought the people behind scientific achievements into public view, offering younger audiences an opportunity to connect with the human stories of discovery.

Continuing the exchange

Laureates City and Symbiosis Science will continue working with international academic institutions, technology companies and partners to support exchange among science, AI, industry and capital.

The Masters of Abstraction & AI4SCI Summit will take place in Hong Kong, bringing scientists, technology leaders and innovators together to explore further possibilities for discovery in the age of AI.
